Parents missing signs of Abuse
More than half of parents in Northern Ireland are not aware of subtle signs that their child may be at risk of sexual exploitation, according to children’s charity, Barnardo’s NI. The report claims that one in nine 16-year-olds in Northern Ireland had experienced some form of grooming. Signs can include consistently returning home late, associating with older children or adults, behaving in inappropriately sexual manner and receiving unexplained gifts.
