More people seek counselling
Increasing numbers of people have consulted a counsellor or psychotherapist, amid growing public awareness of the need to take care of our emotional health, a national survey commissioned by BACP has suggests.
28 per cent of the 2756 people surveyed had sought help, seven per cent higher than a similar survey in 2010. Nearly a third of women had consulted compared with 23 per cent of men.
76 per cent of those surveyed said they’d prefer to speak to a counsellor face-to-face, 9 per cent said they’d prefer to speak online, although this rose to 16 per cent among the 16-24 age group.
